Modern science had its roots in the Biblical Reformation, and early modern scientists believed in a young earth. Old earth proposals sparked by Leyell and Darwin became politically motivated, and opposition to Kelvin's science was accepted as the church swung toward these proposals. Unscientific schemes such as the Day-Age and Gap theories and Theistic evolution are defined. Scientific compatibility with a young earth is shown.
