Dr. Jenkins received his Pharm.D. from Northeast Ohio Medical University. After graduation, he completed postgraduate pharmacy residency training with Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio. His primary areas of training during residency were infectious diseases and internal medicine. After completing residency training, Dr. Jenkins joined Cedarville University and maintained a clinical practice in infectious diseases with the Premier Health hospital system for 10 years. As a Clinical Specialist in Infectious Diseases, Dr. Jenkins streamlined antimicrobial therapy, reduced medical errors, implemented treatment protocols to optimize patient therapy, prevented nosocomial infections, and educated physicians, physicians assistants, and advanced practice nurses on antimicrobial therapeutics. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Jenkins was called on for his expertise in infectious diseases and antimicrobial therapy by many community stakeholders, policy makers, and media outlets. In 2021, he was named Pharmacist of the Year by the Ohio College of Clinical Pharmacy (OCCP) for his teaching, clinical practice, and service during the pandemic. Dr. Jenkins is passionate about student professional development and their clinical education. During his tenure in hospital practice, he precepted over 70 pharmacy students. He was named the 2018 Preceptor of the Distinction by students for his teaching efforts at in his clinical practice. Dr. Jenkins joined the School of Pharmacy's experiential team in 2022 where he currently serves as the Director of Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) Education. Dr. Jenkins is also an expert in postgraduate pharmacy training, and he has helped dozens of students to successfully pursue residency or fellowship training following their graduate. Dr. Jenkins is an active member of the pharmacy profession, and he currently serves within the leadership of several state and national professional organizations. His research interests include topics in infectious disease, antimicrobial stewardship, interprofessional education, experiential education, and student professional development.
