Established in 2012, CedarCommons is the online, institutional repository of the scholarship, creative works, and historical record of Cedarville University. It is also host to CedarScholar faculty scholarly profiles.
This service represents the commitment of Digital Services, the Centennial Library, and the University to the preservation, organization, open access, and dissemination of the intellectual and creative output of the University’s faculty and students.
CedarCommons promotes discovery, research, and instruction by providing electronic access to a wide range of born-digital and newly digitized resources.
Accessibility: Our vendor, TIND, has worked closely with Google and Google Scholar to ensure that our content ranks highly in Google search results.
Centralization: We collect the university’s scholarly and creative output in a single, accessible, digital, discoverable, and organized location.
Open access: We are committed to making as much of our content as possible openly available to all.
Preservation: We store and preserve not only research and publications, but also other institutional assets and historical records, including sports memorabilia, digitized artifacts, and photographic images, sound and video files, etc.
Showcase: The repository provides a showcase of the intellectual and creative output of the university for interested constituencies – prospective faculty, students, staff, alumni, donors, and other visitors from a global audience.
Support for student endeavors: We publish and provide access to theses, capstone projects, student journals, and other student publications and creative activity.
